The past few days in the NHL have seen the name of Connor Bedard attract lot of attention. While his impressive skills and techniques continue to bring him applause, an off-field incident in association with Corey Perry saw his name trend for the wrong reason. A wild rumor regarding his mother, Melanie hooking up with Perry surfaced. Bedard has now slammed these talks and called it “bs“.

As the 18-year-old rookie traveled to Winnipeg to face the Winnipeg Jets, all focus was on him. He was asked by the media about the past week and the rumor. The Chicago Blackhawks youngster called it “fake” and “made-up stuff” while claiming that the talks had affected him and his family.

"I don’t need to answer any more questions about this stuff...It’s all just a bunch of B.S. on the internet. It’s of course been an effect on myself and my family... It’s all just fake, made-up stuff."

These rumor talks were something that even Perry and the Blackhawks condemned. After being waived from the team, the 38-year-old veteran apologized for his actions this Thursday but claimed he was “sickened” by the wild rumors regarding him and Bedard’s mother.

Connor Bedard named NHL Rookie of the Month for November

Considering how the past week has gone for Connor Bedard with all the Corey Perry talks, he perhaps needed some positives and motivation to put these talks aside. He might have just found it as he was named the NHL Rookie of the Month for November.

Ever since making his debut in the NHL, Bedard has continued to impress hockey fans around the globe. Recently, NFL star Travis Kelce also praised him and expressed his joy in watching him play for the Blackhawks.

Bedard had an incredible month of November and led all the rookies with 12 points in 12 games. His contribution of six goals and six assists showcased his goal-scoring and playmaker abilities. He finished ahead of Calgary Flames‘ center Connor Zary (ten points, three goals, and seven assists) to claim this incredible award.

However, despite the best efforts from Bedard, the Blackhawks suffered some heavy losses. The six-time Stanley Cup winners took part in 12 games in November and won just four of those. They also suffered five losses on the bounce and finished the month with a 4-8 record, bottom of their division table. It will take more than just Bedard to help the Blackhawks get out from this slump.
