Following Game 5 and 6 results, Bruins coach Jim Montogomery sidelined Ullmark, replacing him with Jeremy Swayman. Prior to the summer break, Ullmark reveals he was playing through injury and his body couldn’t keep up with the pressure in the end. “I wasn’t as good as I wanted to be”, Ullmark noted further saying that it’s something, “I have to live with.”
Ullmark thanked the medical team for being there and his organization which arranged things for him. When speaking about the team, he commented, “This is a special group.” He further said that it’s a group that deeply cares for one another and just wants the best for them. The Bruins’ star goalie further stated that this loss is going to “haunt” him for a long time.
David Pastrnak talks about his shoulder injury prior to Game 1 against Panthers
David Pastrnak on the other hand revealed to the media, that just seconds before Game 1 against the Panthers, he hurt his shoulder. Following his injury he was unable to score a point 3 out of 4 games. Later in the series, he was able to get past this hurdle clearing the mental struggles he was facing.
He said, “This sport, you can’t be healthy all the time”. It’s one of those games where Pastrnak couldn’t give his 100%. He says that his injuries have restricted him for this season, but he is confident in his play otherwise, “I know what I can do when I’m healthy.”
When asked about the feeling after the loss, he said “It f***ing su**ks”. He revealed that he cleared up his mental battles by turning a new “page and I go really better in my head and I was able to perform better”, according to NESN.
With the playoffs coming to an early end for the Bruins, talks about Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci’s retirement is being discussed. Both players stated that they’ll take this time to go back home and discuss things with family before making any official announcement.
Krejci stated that this time he’ll either come back to NHL for another run or retire entirely. He’ll not be playing in the Czech Republic like the previous year. He said, “It’s either come back or be done”. “If I come back, it would be NHL.”
Whatever decision Krejci came to last year is not going to be repeated and what he’ll decide will have no regrets. If the player intends to return to NHL ice, it’ll be by donning the Black and Gold jersey. Dmitry Orlov also commented that he’ll either be staying with Bruins or returning to Washington Capitals.
Orlov is considering his way back to the Capitals as he noted, “Probably yeah.” For now, speaking with his agent comes first, and then moving forward he’ll decide what to do. Although, moving back may prove to be tough. Bruins players are expected to further announce their future plans following their summer break.
