Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty made it clear during an interview that he’s not going to forgive Connor McDavid for his action in past game. He criticized the Edmonton Oilers captain on his hit on Kings defenceman Mikey Anderson.
Both teams are fated to faceoff during Game 1 of Stanley Cup playoffs, and Doughty is unlikely to hold back if he gets the chance to ‘smack’ ‘The Chosen One’. Although Doughty admits slowing McDavid is no easy feat, he’ll show no mercy considering Kings’ rage on the 26-year-old captain.
Anderson, who was Doughty’s defensive partner had to take IL due to a hit from McDavid. He was forced to miss the remainder of the season. The incident took place back on March 30, and although Andreson will be back in the series opener, the team is still fuming over the incident. McDavid was assessed with a 2-minute boarding penalty by the officials.

Drew Doughty ready to welcome Connor McDavid with smack fest during Game 1
Drew Doughty commented on his planned revenge on Connor McDavid, “It’s not something we forget”. “I don’t know that we’re going to take dumb penalties on them, but if we get the chance to smack him, we’re going to try and do that.”
NHL’s head of Player Safety, George Parros said of the hit, “This hit was a little bit much and it’s important that we set an example”. “We’d rather not have him on the ice right now if that’s the type of game he’s going to play.”
“He already has like 50 more points than the next guy and he’s also throwing huge hits? Come on. That’s unnecessary,” according to Oilers Nation. Since LA Kings‘ 2nd championship run back in 2014, the team is yet to win a playoff round.
Doughty said, “It was like watching your kid play in a game, basically. I was worried anyone was going to make a mistake. I was super intense in the game. I’d be yelling up top (that) they should have a penalty or something like that. If we scored, (I was) jumping up and down.”
With the Kings anticipating their matchup against Oilers, things have already started stirring up at TD Garden. The Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers have started their fiery match signaling the start of the Stanley Cup season.
