“Woody is back” – Forward Miles Wood sign one-year $3.2 million contract extension with Devils, avoids arbitration
Miles Woods re-signs with New Jersey Devils
On Thursday forward Miles Wood agreed to sign a 1-year $3.2 million contract extension with the New Jersey Devils. The 26-year-old restricted free agent avoided a salary arbitration call scheduled on Saturday. During the last season, Woods missed three games with a hip injury where he had to undergo surgery on 9th November.
He had recorded a total of 121 points with 65 goals and 56 assists in 326 regular-season games with zero points in 5 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He was selected by the Devils during the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft in the fourth round as the 100th overall.

Miles Wood will remain with the Devils for one more year
Apart from signing Miles Woods they also penned down Jesper Bratt to a 1-year $5.45 million contract. Woods signed his first three-year entry-level contract with the Devils in April 2016 and registered his first goal in a match against the Winnipeg Jets in a 3-2 loss. He led the team to clinch a spot in the 2018 Playoffs winning the series in a 2-1 against Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Devils finished 27-46-9, 7th in the Metropolitan Divison last season, marking their fourth straight season playoff miss and 9th in the past 10 seasons. During their offseason, they signed Ondrej Palat, Brendan Smith, Vitek Vanecek, John Marino, and Erik Haula, as per nhl.com. They have signed the players keeping in mind to participate in the next run for the Stanley Cup.
