“Wish him the speediest of recoveries” – Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner expected to remain out for season after surgery
Robin Lehner out for the season with injury
Unfortunately, the Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner is expected to be sidelined for the season because of his hip injury that will require him to undergo further medical treatment including surgery. The team reported about his condition on Thursday.
Earlier in April, he had shoulder surgery for an injury he sustained back on February 9th, as he made 27 saves in a 6-0 loss at the Calgary Flames. The 31-year-old missed 5 games before making a comeback after his 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, and in a 3-2 OT win at the Vancouver Canucks, where his performance wasn’t up to the mark.
The team’s concern regarding Robin Lehner’s injury
Last season, when he got his shoulder injured, he recorded 23-17-2 with 2.83 goals against average, a .907 save percentage, and 1 shutout in 44 games, while clinching the 3rd in his team. In the last playoff season, Golden Knights finished 4th in the Pacific Division and did not qualify for the playoffs for the first time in their five NHL seasons, according to nhl.com.

Before the team’s announcement about Lehner’s injury, the Golden Knights’ director of player management Wil Nichol stated about goalie Logan Thompson, “I mean, obviously that’s for training camp and all that stuff plays out, but I think [Thompson], in my opinion, he has already shown us and the organization, his teammates, everything, that he’s more than capable to be to be a full-time NHL goaltender for sure.” Maybe the team has other plans for the goalie position in the upcoming season.
