has one season remaining on a four-year, $28 million contract (average annual value of $7 million) he signed with the Golden Knights on September 10, 2018.

The 33-year-old Pacioretty, who had 37 points (19 goals, 18 assists) in 39 games last season, missed significant time because of a lower-body injury and wrist surgery.

“I’m really looking forward to it. As soon as the dust settled and we focused on the hockey aspect of it, I really got excited about what was in front of me, this opportunity. I’m getting myself into a hardworking team that wants to win hockey games. Everyone talks about the coach (Rod Brind’Amour) being one of the best in the League, if not the best. Selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round (No. 22) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Max Pacioretty has 642 points (323 goals, 319 assists) in 850 regular-season games apart from 49 points (25 goals, 24 assists) in 74 Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Canadiens and Golden Knights.

“Adding offensive firepower and improving our power play were priorities this offseason, and Max certainly checks those boxes,” Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said. “This acquisition gives us an elite scorer and another veteran voice in our dressing room.”
