Jack Campbell signs a 5-year $25 million contract with Edmonton Oilers
On Wednesday the 30-year-old goalie penned a $25 million contract with the Oilers for the next 5-years with an annual average value of $5 million. Jack Campbell has a record of 31-9-6 with 2.64 goals against average, .914 save percentage, and 5 shutouts in 49 games for the Maple Leafs last season, according to nhl.com.
He was selected in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Dallas Star as the first overall. Oilers general manager Ken Holland commented, “He looks to me like a guy that is getting better all the time”. “He’s competitive, he’s accountable and I think he’s 30 and from a goaltender’s standpoint, that’s a good age. I think with ‘Stu’ Skinner we’ll have a good tandem. I’m not expecting [Mike Smith] to play this year. He’s got a lot of health issues.”
