It’s been a crazy week with Corey Perry hooking up with Connor Bedard’s mother rumors going wild on social media. Up until now, the Chicago Blackhawks did not reveal the real reason why they scratched Perry during the last few games despite being healthy.

This led to several rumors floating around on social platforms, with the wildest being Perry’s sexual relationship with NHL rookie star Connor Bedard’s mother Melanie. No side addressed the rumors. Their silence on the other hand further flared up the gossip to a higher degree.

In the latest press conference, the Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson addressed the ongoing rumor and put an end to the fan’s speculations over the forward being a healthy scratch. Davidson stated that the forward’s absence has nothing to do with any player or their family involvement, but rather a “violation” of a “workplace matter”. Following an internal investigation the organization stated that,

“Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation of both the terms of his Standard Player’s Contract and Blackhawks internal policies.”

He’s currently placed on waivers and will be released if he clears the waivers. The team will terminate their contract immediately when it happens. The forward joined the team to provide veteran leadership, especially to NHL No.1 draft pick Connor Bedard, under a $4 million deal.

Reporter Frank Seravalli calls Corey Perry-Connor Bedard rumor “the worst rumor in all of sports”

Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson apologized to the fans as of this moment he could not reveal any further information related to Corey Perry’s termination. Although the fans may not be satisfied without getting the whole scenario, the GM said that it is unrelated to any rumor circulating on social media.

He said that any rumor linking Corey Perry’s absence to Connor Bedard’s mother “is widely inaccurate and, frankly, disgusting.” The rumor started with the Blackhawks scratching Perry last Wednesday during the game against the Blue Jackets. At that time the organization did not give a clear reason and left it to the fan’s imagination.

A rumor can often be a double-edged sword as it can sometimes provide comic relief, while sometimes taking on a grim turn, ruining a player’s image, and personal life, and even affecting people related to them. Following last week’s incident, Perry’s agent took to X to reveal a bit of information on the player, which in turn further exploded the ongoing whispers.

Corey Perry’s agent Pat Morris stated on Saturday that the forward has “stepped away from Chicago Blackhawks to attend to personal matters.” The personal matters were quickly linked to Perry’s relationship with Connor Bedard’s mom Melanie, and rumors took a grim turn.

Two reporters who took an active role in pushing back the misleading fan speculations were The Chicago Tribune’s Phillip Thompson and Daily FaceOff columnist Frank Seravalli. Seravalli labeled the ongoing incident as “the worst rumor in all of sports” and called it “f***ing bull****”.

On the other hand, Phillip Thompson said that “involvement with Connor Bedard’s mother is 100% false.” The past week’s rumor has finally come to an end with the team’s statement on social media. But fans are far from satisfied with the current answers they were provided.
