Edmonton Oilers lead playoff scorer Leon Draisaitl gets some “playoff makeup” done during practice on the ice for Game 2. The center left the ice after getting caught in some friendly fire as the Oilers prep to face Vegas Golden Knights. The VGK is currently leading the series with a 1-0 deficit while the Oilers look to tie the score.
Following the practice, Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft was asked about Draisailt’s condition as the forward left the ice after the hit. Woodcroft joked about the incident, stating, “Did he leave the ice? I would say it’s a little bit of playoff makeup, I think he probably had one or two sutures. He’ll be just fine.”
Draisaitl’s recent achievements have been celebrated all throughout social media as he scored 11 goals in 7 games, a feat accomplished in NHL since 1922. Fans have every right to be worried about his condition as the crucial playoff series stretch has only just started.

Leon Draisaitl talks about Oilers’ shortcomings after Game 1 loss to VGK
Leon Draisaitl’s 4-goal performance failed to save the Oilers from Wednesday’s Game 1 loss against Golden Knights. During the postgame conference, the Oilers seemed to focus more on their mistakes rather than talk about opponents while acknowledging their efforts.
Oilers forward, Draisaitl spoke bluntly to the media stating that they know how good of a team VGK is, but it’s nothing they can’t handle. “This is just on us not bringing our best game…we weren’t good enough. That’s not even close to how we play. Got to move on and we’ll be better.”
Although fans were celebrating Draisaitl’s achievement, the 27-year-old player was more focused on the team’s shortcomings and ways to improve them. Draisaitl said that the team needs to be better at puck controlling, so we need to “regroup, learn from it, and move on”.
He confidently stated that there’s “nothing to be worried about”. It seems Oilers’ head coach also mimicked Draisaitl’s resolution as he commented that the team has never run away from a challenge but has improved and corrected themselves to handle things better. For Oilers, it seems the biggest threat remains to be VGK’s captain Mark Stone whom they’ve been targeting for a while.
Knights goaltender, Laurent Brossoit spoke about Oilers targeting Stone, “He’s a world-class player. Everyone talks about Connor, but Leon is a hell of a player. So, we have to be aware of when he’s out there. Even though he scored four, it could have been worse, as odd as it is to say.”
