The scrum between Tanner Jeannot and Luke Schenn took place when Bolt’s player slashed Schenn’s forehead. The latter didn’t see any reason of holding back, as he sneaked in some pretty hefty punches in between their fight.

Lightning captain Steven Stamkos said, “That’s playoff hockey. It’s a series, right? So you just try to build momentum in different ways.” On the Bolts’ performance, he commented, “We should expect more from our group”. “With the experience that we have, we know teams are going to come out (fueled), especially if they lose one at home.”

Apart from their fight, Lightning’s Corey Perry was also tossed out of the game for engaging with a fan just outside of the penalty box. Furthermore, Patrick Maroon also had a similar experience. That’s not all, Jeannot was entangled with a fan who tried to climb over to the penalty box to give him a piece of mind.

The whole arena resounded with “Perry sucks”, as the Leafs’ fans intended to drive out the veteran forward in the corner. The fans had every right, as it was Perry who helped two teams in annihilating the Leafs out of the playoff contention. He surely is not at all welcomed by the loyal Leafs’ fans.

Lightning head coach Jon Cooper spoke on how Leafs flipped the results of Game 1 with Game 2 victory, “It is a weird one in both of these cases. I think both games mirrored each other. Wasn’t it 3-0, and then there was a little bit of a pushback? It’s a funny game. It’s why we love this game.”

Leafs’ coach Sheldon Keefe also addressed his team’s win over the Bolts stating, “It was a big response. We couldn’t have asked for a better start. Obviously, we earned the power play to begin with. To shoot it in the net right away like that…”

We needed a response tonight in a big way. They took it to us pretty good the other night. We needed to have a good day today. We did. Now we have a series. We will get out on the road and have to play even better than we did tonight.
