Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby acquired his 1st NHL game misconduct against the Los Angeles Kings game earlier this week. Despite this upsetting end and a mark on his glorious career, Crosby remains the favorite player for almost all NHLers.
Following the end of 2023 NHL All-Star Week that captured Crosby skating with his frenemy Alex Ovechkin, the star players game together for a celebratory event. Many NHL players didn’t shy away from accepting Crosby “The Next One” talent.
Some even said that Crosby is a player who’ll be perfect for any team, and a player a team would want on their side. Despite praises from players, Crosby himself praised Conno Bedrard, noting that his talent at such a young age is praiseworthy.
NHL players praise Sidney Crosby for producing power plays even at age 35
Congratulating Connor Bedard, Crosby stated, “I had a chance to skate with him last summer and, yeah, just no weaknesses”. “It’s pretty cool to see someone at that age be as dominant as he is.” During the NHL break week Sidney Crosby took the stage with Alex Ovechkin and his son Sergei.
Colorado Avalanche defenceman Cale Makar noted that it’s his “longevity” and dominance on ice that allowed the player to produce such grand records even at the age of 35. Nathan Mackinnon, Crosby’s close friend said, “One of the most complete players in the game”.
Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin commented, “He has that presence when he steps on the ice. You just know he’s out there, and there’s only three or four guys like that in the entire league”. “He still has that aura.” Golden Knights forward Chandler Stephenson said, “He’s the captain and the guy you’d want on your team – 10 times out of 10.”
Following his 12-year $104.4 million contract signed with the Penguins, Sidney Crosby recorded 65 points in 53 games with 24 goals and 41 assists as of the 2022-23 regular season. In his NHL career, he recorded 1,474 points with 541 goals and 933 assists in 1,161 games.
Connor McDavid praised his gaming styles including his created “tweaks” that make his opponents guess his game, “Little different things here and there to keep opponents guessing”. “He’s done that time and time again. It’s amazing to see.”
Mackinnon further added, “The second half of his career, he’s stayed really healthy. I don’t know when he’s going to stop playing”. “The way he thinks the game. And that’s in his own brain, so you can’t really copy that”.
“But he plays at his own pace out there. He really controls the tempo of the game when he’s on the ice, which is hard to do. It’s not always with his speed or his power, just the way he’s always in the right spots.”
