“This list sucks!” – Penguins Jake Guentzel out of Top 10 best wingers ranking by NHL Network

Jake Guentzel

Pittsburg Penguins left winger Jake Guentzel took a dip down the Top 10 best NHL wingers list, as he was ranked at No. 14 by the NHL Network. The Penguins fans find it hard to believe that he was left out of the top list in the new set of NHL rankings.

Top player rankings are released every week as the training camps are just a month away. The NHL Network released their new top winger’s list on Sunday evening. While some are happy to see their favorite player on top of the list, others find it hard to believe their favorites are down the Top 10 list.

Should Jake Guentzel really be listed below the Top 10 wingers list?

Back in 2016-17, Jake Guentzel well established himself in the limelight, after scoring 2 goals in his first game with 31 points with 14 goals and 17 assists in the final 39 games that season.

He’s been a great asset to the team and has proved his value by leading the team in goals twice and assisting greatly during the Penguins playoff season. Last season, he and Sidney Crosby led the team in points, while having a personal career-high of 84 points in 76 games.

He came close to Dino Ciccarelli’s playoff goal record set in 1981 in 2017, where he scored 13 goals in the Stanley Cup Championships, falling only 1 short of the 1981 record, as reported on si.com. Throughout his career, Jake has scored 58 points with 34 goals and 24 assists in 58 playoff games.

He has set milestones in his NHL career, but having him listed in the No. 14 spot has incurred negative emotions from the Penguins fans. Questions arise as the 27-year-old winger sits behind Patrick Kane who scored 26 goals last year.
