The fast-paced action on the ice rink of hockey witnessed another great encounter as the Carolina Hurricanes locked horns with the Ottawa Senators recently. As the Canes snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-1 loss, this encounter is now being talked about because of the clash between goalie Pyotr Kochetkov and Sens’ captain Brady Tkachuk.
A promising game between these two sides turned one-sided as the Canes took full control of the game. With the way they failed, very few would believe that they had come into this game on a run of four consecutive losses. This match though paced up late in the third period when Kochetkov and Tkachuk found themselves in an exchange of words.
During the third period of the game, Tkachuk was granted a penalty shot. In trying to reduce the deficit, the Sens captain took the penalty shot himself and made his way towards Kochetkov. The Canes though was easily able to make the save while diving low and spreading himself.
In this save, Tkachuk would go stumbling down and hit the boards behind. His frustration from the game and this miss soon boiled over and he snapped back the goaltender. The two players were seen exchanging some words as Tkachuk was being dragged back by the referee. Check out the incident from X below:
Brady Tkachuk assessed with 10-minute misconduct following fight with Pyotr Kochetkov
Fights are one of the most common things in the NHL. Every single day, a fight between two sets of players emerge which could have been avoided. This fight between Brady Tkachuk and goalie Pyotr Kochetkov was described as an unnecessary one by several fans on social media. For his part in this fight, the Senators captain was assessed with a 10-minute misconduct.
Over this season, his behavior has surprised many fans. Looked on by many as a leader who can lead the team to glory, Tkachuk’s actions this season on and off the ice field have been questionable. Recently when he faced off his brother Matthew Tkachuk during the game against the Florida Panthers, he took the center stage for all the wrong reasons.
In that game, the forward once again got into trouble. He was left unimpressed by the actions of goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. As he confronted him, a massive brawl broke out between the two sets of players. His actions ignited this fight between the two teams, which saw 10 players being handed suspension for their part in this action.
Before this, he pointed out an issue with the fans. He would criticize the audience for their constant booing at their home ground following their poor start to the 2023-24 season. The 24-year-old labeled this reaction from fans as “frustrating” and claimed that they (the team) were trying their best in the games.
He is now once again trending for the wrong reasons. Perhaps the frustrations from his and team’s performances are getting the better of him. The fans of the Senators though would be hoping he can put this issue aside quickly and become an inspirational leader once again.
