Montreal Canadien star player Carey Price proved Wednesday night that stage nerves are real…and scary. Sometimes it can also paralyze a celebrity on stage. The netminder was honored to call out the name of the No. 5 draft pick but unfortunately blanked out on the stage.

Price looked quite baffled as he only called out “David” and they started looking towards the Canadiens staff for help. Fortunately for him, GM Kent Hughes stepped forward and said that they apparently had “planned it that way”. He then called out to their draft pick David Reinbacher on stage.

Sadly, the fans were hardly convinced of Hughes’ excuse and went onto social media to slam the netminder. One asked, “How f***ing drunk is he?” while another commented, “That was awkward to watch. Poor Carey knew he messed up that moment.”

“What’s awesome is that the kid they drafted was already halfway out of his seat and couldn’t care less.” The comments were harsh, and even NHL legend Roberto Luongo joined the fury to poke fun at the incident. He commented, “The tendies are having a tough night selecting picks.”

The David Reinbacher incident didn’t only stop there. Apart from fans slamming and making fun of Carey Price, they also hit at the No.5 draft pick. According to reports, many Canadien fans were upset with their pick and started circulating hate messages on social media.

This is truly deemed the worst situation any new player would want to start at. GM Kent Hughes asked the fans to calm down and give a chance to the player before making such assumptions. He boldly stated that they’re, “confident in the player that we drafted”.

He hopes that the fans “take the time to allow him to perform on the ice”. Hughes is confident in Reinbacher’s ability and strongly commented that he’ll be here to stay for a long time. While some fans hated their pick, there were many who supported the player.

Some even initiated to start showing support online to motivate and cheer the player from the past incidents. As for Carey Price’s mistake on stage, Reinbacher revealed that the netminder reached out to him and apologized. Not only that, but Price also apologized for his mistake on social media stating, “Sorry David…Reinbacher.”

When asked how the Austrian defenceman felt about the incident, he stated that he was “a little bit confused” but relieved when Hughes said, “‘Reinbacher’, it was incredible”. During the interview, he also said, “Carey Price came to me [and] was like, ‘I’m so sorry.‘”

Reinbacher was not troubled by Price’s mistake at all, rather the newbie was glad to “shake his hand. I’m very thankful for that”. Thankfully, he took it in a positive way and was busy celebrating the good news with his family. Now the franchise is hoping the fans give David Reinbacher the chance to prove his worth and stop criticizing.
