Ryan Patrick McDonagh is an ice hockey defenceman for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League. He is also the alternate captain of the team. Ryan played college hockey for the Badgers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, he was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round as the 12th overall. Ryan also played for the New York Rangers as a team captain from 2014 to 2018. He was later traded to the Lightning by the Rangers.
