For the ninth time in his career, the Pittsburg Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been named to the NHL All-Star game in 2023. He is now successfully tied his All-Star record with Jaromir Jagr, leaving only Mario Lemieux in the most game selections in Penguins history.

Lemieux has participated in the event 13 times, the most in the organization’s history. Trailing behind Jagr and Crosby is Evgeni Malkin with 8 participations. It’s been an amazing year for Crosby both stepping into 2023 and even in the last year.

Crosby was selected as an officer of the Order of Canada one of the highest honors a player could receive from his country, plus he’s been one of the most notable players on the ice. His plays throughout the 2022-23 season have been a great influence on the team.

Sidney Crosby one of the best players not only in the Penguins organization but one of the best in the National Hockey League was even praised by Wayne Gretzky, the NHL’s best. He stated that Crosby is a step ahead of the Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid.

Even this season, Crosby has recorded 43 points in 19 goals and 24 assists in 37 games. He has been regarded as NHL’s best player 5-on-5 and had his goals set on accomplishing 111 points in the year. As of now, Crosby has been selected by the Penguins, but other players can also join via fan voting presented by Guaranteed Rate.

Apart from the 32 representatives selected from each of the 32 teams, there’ll be an addition of 12 more players. These 12 players will be selected as 2 skaters and 1 goaltender per division. Among the 43 points achieved this season, 33 of them have ranked him 3rd in NHL, behind Erik Karlsson at 39 points and Connor McDavid at 35.

Cosby is one shy of 1 goal that’ll name him as the 2nd active player with the most 20-goal seasons in Penguins history. He currently has a record of 15 20-goals in season, joining the ‘Great Eight’ Alex Ovechkin at 18. He is also the only active player to break into the 900-assist milestone in November 2022.

In 1,120 games he reached 900 assists. The players who got faster into the 900 circles are Gretzky with 584 games, Lemieux with 771, Paul Coffey with 991, Adam Oates with 1,056, and Ron Francis with 1,108.
