Things started moving in the last minutes as Penguins winger Bryan Rust scored with just 25 seconds left to tie the score, while Jake Guentzel beat Ducks goalie John Gibson with 33 seconds in OT. Ducks players John Klingberg and Trevor Zegras put in the effort, but the Penguins’ rush marked them the winners of the night.

Bryan Rust noted, “We didn’t have any doubt”. “I think everybody had that mindset. Guys talking on the bench, ’Hey, we’re going to get this one. Keep digging. Keep pushing. Let’s get this to overtime and then we’ll win it there.’ And that’s exactly what we did.”

Zegras’ shoot to Cam Fowler blew up their chances of success of taking on Pens goalie Casey DeSmith. Zegras commented, “(We) give up one late, then I make a stupid pass in overtime (and they) go down the ice and score”. “Not what you want.”

Guentzel said after Cosby’s assist on the OT win, “It’s huge”. He said that this is a win the team needed. Their win Monday night, helped them boost their confidence to look forward to another smashing game. Needless to say, their win upped them on ranking, while they prep to end the 2022-23 season with a blast.

Ducks coach Dallas Eakins commented on their team’s play after Monday night’s loss, “With our team, we have to play a perfect game, where we’re at as a team”. He further continued stating that the team did what they could, “Obviously, in overtime, you have your chance at one end. If you don’t put it in, you know it’s coming back the other way.”
