The goalie could have become a restricted free agent after this NHL season, but his recent 3-year contract signing has saved him from this predicament. It’s been announced on Tuesday, that Spencer Knight has penned a $13.5 million contract, which will become active from the 2023-24 season.
According to the contract, the goalie has secured yet another fruitful year with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey Team. Last season he has helped the team secure the Presidents’ Trophy for recording the best NHL season with a 58-18-6 score.
GM Bill Zito states Spencer Knight “is a phenomenal goaltender”

Knight scored 19-9-3 with a 2.79 goals-against-average (GAA), and 2 shutouts in 32 games. Sadly, the Panthers were mopped away by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Second Round.
Panthers GM Bill Zito commented, “Spencer is a phenomenal goaltender, as well as an exceptional athlete and person,”. “He has thrived in his professional career, dedicating himself to his training through his first two seasons with our organization. With this extension, we are excited about the present and future of Panthers goaltending.”
He has been with the Panthers since his drafting in 2019, in the first round as the 13th overall. Knight has a total GAA of 2.74 with a 23-9-3 score, a .909 save percentage, and 2 shutouts in 36 regular-season games, and a 1-1 with a 2.06 GAA, and .933 save percentage in 2 postseason games.
