This time it wasn’t Santa who delivered gifts to Ottawa Senators defenceman Travis Hamonic, but fellow defenceman Thomas Chabot. Though it was an early Christmas gift, it followed Chabot’s accidental slash to Travis on Saturday in a 3-2 victory over Nashville Predators. 

Earlier in the game Predators, Nino Niederreiter’s hit on Chabot frustrated the 25-year-old defenceman. Chabot forgot he changed his seat with Travis as he accidentally smashed his face with his stick. Chabot intended to squeeze out his annoyance on the glass next to the player’s seat.

Unfortunately, the glass remained uninjured, while his teammate became the victim of it. Thankfully no serious harm was done, otherwise, Chabot wouldn’t have been able to hold his own guilt. His face said a lot as he realized what he just did.

Travis Hamonic enjoys early Christmas after getting hit by Thomas Chabot

The accident followed by tons of apologies definitely reached Travis’ heart as the 32-year-old laughed at the scene. Looking back Travis commented, “I was literally laughing about it. I was grateful no harm was done. I’m already missed my teeth, so we’re all good and move forward.”

Though the Senators won the game, Chabot wasn’t satisfied with the apologies alone, as he stated on Monday, “It wasn’t my proudest moment, that’s for sure”. “There’s no need to explain myself, but that just can’t happen and thankfully enough, he’s all good and didn’t get hurt or anything.”

As per Hockey Feed, Santa Chabot gifted Travis 4 expensive wine bottles and a trip to the spa for Travis and his wife. Well, isn’t it a perfect Christmas gift? No, it’s just time to wait and stick the star on top of the Christmas tree and pop open a wine bottle.

Chabot didn’t want to disclose the contents of the gift bag as he thought only Travis has the right to disclose the information. Although, it wasn’t Travis who revealed the gifts but rather TVA Sports Marc-Andre Perreault who found out what it was.

The video of Chabot slashing Travis went viral over social media while some compared their incident to that of Keith Ballard, and goaltender Tomas Vokoun. Currently, the team has set its own pace and is waiting for the final card that’ll come in the shape of the game against Anaheim Ducks.
