Boston Bruins forward A.J. Greer got plummed on the ice following strong hits from Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds. Prior to going on their NHL break, the Bruins absolutely destroyed the Leafs with a double score 5-2 victory.

Their scrum was followed by Greer’s big shot leading the team to their victory march. Soon after the goal Wayne dropped the gloves positioning himself in his famous fighting stance. Wayne is pretty popular in NHL for physical contacts, there’s nothing more to say, isn’t it?

Greer afforded only one big hit at the very start of their bout, as he got slammed onto the ice with forceful consecutive hits from Wayne. The Leafs forward didn’t back out even after drawing Greer on the ice until referees stepped in to stop the two forwards.

Boston Bruins Pavel Zacha and Derek Forbort each played extraordinarily drilling shots in the net during the third period, especially. Though resistance from Calle Jarnkrok tallied points midway, it was of no vain as shots showered on Leafs at Scotiabank, Toronto.

The game-winning shot was credited to A.J. Greer as adrenaline beat with fans roaring in the arena. Surprisingly the news that made headlines was not his shot, but his fight with Wayne Simmonds. The video made rounds on Twitter making a huge splash.

While some wondered if Greer would be back from the concussion room for the game, he stepped onto the ice once again during the last hour. Later during a post-game interview, Greer said that he was happy to oblige in the fight with Leafs forward.

He commented, “I think it was he asked for it and I just had some adrenaline from the goal I had just scored so I don’t know”. “It wasn’t the best decision because we were up 3-1 but it’s hard for me to say no. I’m someone who competes hard, and I don’t know, I just want the upper edge all the time.”

“I didn’t even think twice, I just said, ‘Yeah.’ When I tried to hit him at first, I didn’t get a grip on him, so it was hard for me to come back cause he has a long reach. But I protected myself and nothing came from it.” 

“He had that reach against me so it was just a matter of making sure that I was gonna be safe in that situation but I just thought that I couldn’t say no to [the fight] just cause of the emotions I was going through.”
