Tyson Nash, a former Canadian ice hockey player continues to defend his controversial comments on the Arizona Coyotes and Anaheim Duck’s game on April 1st, 2022. Nash, Coyotes broadcaster applauds Jay Beagle for cross-checking Troy Terry during the game. Though Beagle’s actions were outrageous, Nash still stands by Beagle.

Arizona Coyotes loss against Anaheim Ducks in 5-0, Coyotes forward Jay Beagle took action toward young Anaheim star Trevor Zegras poking at the Coyotes goaltender Karel Vejmelka as he covered the puck in the game in the dying minutes of the third period. Beagle cross-checked Zegras before engaging in a clash with the Duck’s forward Troy Terry.

Troy came forward to help his teammate Zegras when he got caught in the frenzy situation they were in. Coyotes forward, Beagle slammed on the Duck’s star leaving Troy bloodied and bruised in the face. During the scuffle, broadcaster Nash argued that what the Arizona veteran did was justified, and if Zegras and Troy want, “to embarrass guys, you want to skill it up, you better be prepared to get punched in the mouth.”

The comments lit up controversy online, but Nash continued to defend himself. Even after weeks later he still stands strong on his point and doesn’t find any faults with anything he has said. The young Troy had to leave the game with just over 5 minutes remaining. Zegras was clearly upset over the incident deploring Beagle’s activity in a postgame interview as,

“The fact that he’s down, and not engaged in a fight, and you’re gonna hit him three more times, I think it’s embarrassing,” “I think the league should step in here and do something about it.”

The NHL decided not to fine or suspend Beagle over this incident. Nash’s comments brought on numerous hatters for him. As noted on sportingnews.com, Nash commented,

“Well I really wouldn’t change a thing,” “If there was one thing I would change that people have jumped all over me about is that I was trying to downplay and be negative on the skill aspect of the game, which I find laughable.”

Tyson Nash continued, “I absolutely love [Zegras],” “I love that he chirps, I love his swagger, I love his cockiness. But all I’m saying is, when you’re gonna do all that, be prepared to get punched in the mouth.”

Nash is being really controversial from his own standpoint. On one hand, he is complimenting Zegras’s style of play, but on the other note is stating that if he continues with his plays like this he should be ready to take a punch or two in the face.
