NHL 2010-11 season marked Sidney Crosby’s injury-ridden days. He suffered from concussion problems which raised questions about the league’s player safety issues. Forwarding to 2014-15, Crosby had his career lowest, tallying 84 points. Nevertheless, he still went on 1.09 points per game.
During the 2016 playoff run, ‘Sid the Kid’ tallied 19 points in 24 games, leading the team to victory. The Pens relished their 2nd Stanley Cup Championship win, while Crosby won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP. The Pens defeated the San Jose Sharks in 6 games to clinch their victory.
2017 – Sidney Crosby leads Penguins to win back-to-back Stanley Cup rings
In the 2017 Stanley Cup playoff race, the Penguins faced the Nashville Predators in the final round. Despite being outplayed by the Predators, the Penguins maintained their 2-game lead. In Game 5, Sidney Crosby made history by crossing Mario Lemieux’s record for most Cup final points in the franchise with 20.
The Penguins dominated the Preds in Game 6. They went on to secure a score of 2-0, thus becoming the first team to repeat as Cup champions since the 1997-98’s Red Wings performance. Evgeni Malkin also secured 1st place among the Pens to score 27 points in 24 games, leaving Sid for 2nd place victory.
