Former NHL player Chris Pronger absolutely stole the show after he chugged a beer in the middle of his jersey retirement ceremony on Monday night. The St. Louis Blues raised Pronger’s #44 to the rafters in a celebration that was long due owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Dryden native Pronger had a remarkable career, playing for various teams throughout his NHL tenure. He spent nine of his 18 seasons in the NHL with the Blues and played in a whopping 1,167 career games while winning both the Norris and Hart Trophy. The 47-year-old also clinched his only Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks.
“And to you all,” Chris said as a toast to the fans before chugging down the brewski at the Enterprise Center. His sign off speech did commemorate the occasion as audibly heard cheers and applause made the atmosphere even electric.

“Thanks for pushing me to be my best”
“Not yet…From boos to cheers, you always showed a passion for the game, for my style of play. And I thank you very much for helping mould me into the man I’ve become – a young 20-year-old when I got here in the favoured trade leaving a man at 30 with two kids, soon to be three and a wife.
“When you play in a city for 10 years, and you move back to a city, I’ve been here now for more than 10 years, I think about my hometown. I lived here for 15, so this is my new adopted home, being here for 20 years,” said while addressing the spectators.
“You always motivated me to play harder, you pushed me to be my best, and held me to a standard that I relished and tried to match.
“Cheers to you all, thank you for coming, thanks for having me. Let’s watch it go up,” he added.
