Even before playing his first-round match at the US Open, Carlos Alcaraz made global headlines, all because of his hairstyle. His head was completely shaved off because his brother, Alvarez Alcaraz, “misunderstood with the machine“.

He was mocked and praised, with Frances Tiafoe using “horrible” and “terrible” words to describe Alcaraz’s buzz cut. The Spaniard later promised to have another hairstyle and fulfilled it after beating Jannik Sinner in the final.

Alcaraz went completely blonde, with the barber at that time being his personal hairstylist, Victor Martinez. But once again, it received mixed reactions. Now, actor Nicholas Hoult, who played villain Lex Luthor in the 2025 Superman movie, gave his reaction to the tennis ace’s blonde look. He said during an interview with GQ:

He’s bleached his hair? Copycat! I didn’t see. He just won the US Open. He shaved it and then bleached it? I didn’t realize he was such a fan of mine.

Alcaraz impressed the tennis world with his electrifying performance throughout the US Open, as he dropped a set only against Sinner in the final. Many joked that the shaved head made him look faster on the court.

After the US Open, the six-time Grand Slam champion made his debut at the Japan Open and ended his campaign by beating Taylor Fritz in the final. He was forced to skip the Shanghai Masters because of an ankle injury he suffered during his opening-round match in Tokyo.

So far this season on the men’s tour, the World No. 1 has clinched the most titles (eight from 10 finals). Those titles include the French Open and the US Open, which he took home by beating Sinner. Next is the exhibition tournament, the Six Kings Slam, scheduled to start on October 15.

Alcaraz has received a bye and will play Fritz or Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. He lost the $6 million prize money by losing to Sinner in the final last year.

Nick Kyrgios backs Carlos Alcaraz to break Novak Djokovic’s record

Carlos Alcaraz has a long way to go to break Novak Djokovic‘s 24 Grand Slam titles record. But the speed at which he is clinching the Majors, Nick Kyrgios is convinced that the 22-year-old can achieve the impossible-looking target. During The Unrestricted Show with Josh Mansour, Kyrgios claimed Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner don’t have any weaknesses in their game, and they would continue to dominate the men’s tour.

He is an incredible ball striker; like his ball striking is on another planet, like one of the best ball strikers ever. He’s got no weakness anymore. He and Alcaraz don’t have any weaknesses. You just have to beat them, you just have to raise your level to ridiculous proportions.

Sinner and Alcaraz have only won the last eight Majors, with Djokovic’s last Major title being the 2023 US Open. The Serb was knocked out by Sinner and Alcaraz in the semifinals of three Grand Slam events this year.

I think at the rate that Alcaraz is going, he could do it. He’s already got six at 22 years old. He’s winning two a year, so yeah, he could do it.

Nick Kyrgios added

Djokovic will be meeting the winner of the Stefanos Tsitsipas versus Sinner in the semifinals of the Six Kings Slam. Before Riyadh, the 38-year-old was in Shanghai, where his run was ended by eventual champion Valentin Vacherot in the semifinals.

After the Six Kings Slam, Sinner will be playing the Vienna Open, while Alcaraz will be gearing up for the last Masters 1000 of the season, the Paris Masters. Djokovic will skip the Paris Masters with his next tournament being an ATP 250 event in Athens in November.
