Nick Kyrgios was one among the former and current players who were part of the PTPA’s class action lawsuit they filed against the ATP, WTA, ITF, and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). PTPA made headlines in March when they accused the tennis governing bodies of not taking care of the players’ well-being, among other things. But the governing bodies have denied all the accusations.

The PTPA was founded by Novak Djokovic and Canadian ace Vasek Pospisil in 2020. The 24-time Grand Slam champion, however, is not a part of this lawsuit, and he even found some wording quite strong. PTPA has released an interview with Kyrgios where he addressed the need for more players to bring some changes to the sport.

Well, we just need more players to get behind it. Obviously, what we’ve been able to do the last two years has been special. Obviously, with the lawsuit and everything on the legal side of things, you know, finally getting that in motion was the most important thing. To let people know that we’re not gonna stop until things get right. You know more players, more support, and we’ve got to stick together. I think those are the main things.

Kyrgios has finally played his first tournament since his Miami Open second-round exit. He joined forces with Gael Monfils for doubles at the Citi Open, but the pair failed to beat third seeds Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Hugo Nys.

It was Kyrgios’ fifth tournament of the season. He made his comeback to tennis after 18 months at the Brisbane International but did not secure his first win before the Miami Open.

Nick Kyrgios’ verdict on Jannik Sinner’s Wimbledon win

Nick Kyrgios mocked Jannik Sinner when reports emerged that the Italian ace has re-hired fitness trainer Umberto Ferrara. It was Ferrara who bought the spray containing clostebol from Italy and gave it to Sinner’s former physio Giacomo Naldi. During physiotherapy sessions, Sinner got contaminated.

After the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency’s ‘lenient’ punishments, Sinner made his return and played impressive tennis, reaching three finals, including at the French Open and Wimbledon, winning the latter with a four-set win over Carlos Alcaraz. And Kyrgios, during the All on the Table podcast a few days ago, told Serena Williams‘ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, that Sinner winning Wimbledon was not a good look for tennis.

It wasn’t right. That’s it…I’ve had a lot of injuries. And, you know, I’ve played the game of tennis since I was seven years old. My whole life was dedicated to tennis. Everything good has come from the sport. And I’ve done it the right way, I think. You know, I look in the mirror every time, every match I won is on my own ability.

With this win, Sinner improved his head-to-head record over Alcaraz to 5-8. He also broke the streak of five consecutive defeats to the Spaniard.

It was Sinner’s fourth Grand Slam title of his career and also his second trophy of the season following his Australian Open win. The only tournament where Sinner couldn’t make it to the final this year was the Halle Open, where he fell in the second round against eventual winner Alexander Bublik.

Sinner is not playing the Citi Open and will not be traveling to Montreal for the Canadian Open, where last year, Andrey Rublev ended his run. The 23-year-old, instead will kick-start his campaign in the United States at the Cincinnati Masters, where he will bid to defend his title. At the US Open, the World No.1 will aim to defend his title. Last year, he defeated home favorite Taylor Fritz.
