Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has continued his war of words with Jannik Sinner, criticizing the ITIA’s verdict regarding the Italian’s doping scandal. The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up’s relationship with Sinner completely deteriorated after the Italian wasn’t suspended by tennis authorities despite testing positive twice for a banned substance.

In a new development, WADA’s appeal on Sinner’s case is underway, and there is a chance the World No. 1 could be suspended. However, Kyrgios questioned why the Davis Cup champion is still allowed to play while his case is under investigation.

Why’s he still playing lol.

Kyrgios initially had a great relationship with Sinner. After the World No. 1’s Australian Open win earlier this year, the 29-year-old even asked the Italian to coach him, seeking advice on winning his elusive Grand Slam title.

However, things changed after the doping scandal. Kyrgios even stated that he won’t be as hospitable to the 23-year-old as he is to other ATP players, considering other athletes like Simona Halep have faced suspension for similar issues. Sinner, however, has declined to comment on Kyrgios’ remarks.

Jannik Sinner continues bid for his first Shanghai Masters title

Jannik Sinner showed great determination in a comeback win on Sunday, moving into the fourth round of the Rolex Shanghai Masters. The World No. 1 defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry in a hard-fought match, winning 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-2 after two hours and 39 minutes. Sinner is now 2-0 in their head-to-head meetings and will face either Roberto Carballes Baena or Ben Shelton next.

The first set was a close battle, with both players having chances to win it. Etcheverry stayed calm under pressure, saving two set points and eventually winning the set in a tie-break. The Argentine was solid at the net, converting a set point with a strong volley.

In the second set, Sinner raised his game and found his rhythm. After trading breaks in the middle of the set, the 23-year-old kept his focus and managed to level the match at one set all.

In the deciding set, Sinner applied more pressure and finally broke Etcheverry’s serve in the third game. Despite facing break points later in the set, the World No.1 held firm and powered through to secure the victory.
