Rafael Nadal‘s uncle, Toni Nadal, believes in Jannik Sinner‘s innocence amidst the doping controversy. Nadal, in a column, wrote about how a player like Sinner would never do anything wrong knowingly.
It perplexed Nadal amidst demands of a ban on Sinner instead of criticism of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) for not following the same process when other players also dealt with similar charges in the past. He also censured those players who have been slamming Sinner after he got cleared of all charges in a short time.
I don’t understand how some of his colleagues who know him well, have trained with him and faced him in matches doubt his innocence or want a punishment against him that, strictly speaking, would be absolutely disproportionate.Toni Nadal wrote in his column for El Pais
Nick Kyrgios, who has been voicing his opinions against Sinner and the ITIA, hit back at Nadal for his claims. On social media, Kyrgios wrote whether Nadal would defend him had he been the player embroiled in doping controversy in place of Sinner.
If this was me do you think Toni Nadal would come out and defend me? Players know that I ain’t about cheating. Ridiculous.Nick Kyrgios wrote on X

Nick Kyrgios questions Jannik Sinner’s decision to fire his physio and fitness coach
Jannik Sinner failed two tests in March this year and was provisionally suspended. Without wasting much time, he quickly appealed to an independent tribunal, and after a thorough investigation, he was declared innocent in August.
A banned anabolic steroid, clostebol, contaminated him while he was receiving massage from his ex-physio, Giacomo Naldi. Naldi was given a spray containing clostebol by Sinner’s ex-fitness coach, Umberto Ferrara, who purchased it from Italy.
Sinner recently fired Ferrara and Naldi, a decision Nick Kyrgios questioned. He wondered why Sinner had to wait for months to part ways with them.
I’m just wondering as to why they waited five months to fire the physio? If they knew about it so early on.Nick Kyrgios wrote on X

Sinner is at the US Open and will play his first match against Mackenzie McDonald on Tuesday (August 27). He has already won five titles this season, including his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Kyrgios, on the other hand, is yet to make his comeback to court after recovering from a career-threatening injury.
