Mercedes Mone broke all the charts by probabaly becoming one of the highest-paid female wrestlers in history when she joined AEW. After she joined the Jacksonville-based company, former WWE Women’s Champion Nikki Bella expressed her desire to lace her boots too. The 40-year-old talked about her thoughts in an interview when she was close to joining AEW.

Nikki Bella revealed on The Nikki and Brie Show that she had made up her mind regarding joining AEW. She felt like she could perform every week. Nikki almost even called Tony Khan about her joining AEW. However, she quickly changed her mind, thinking about her husband, Artem Chigvintsev, and her son.

The 40-year-old star retired from wrestling due to injury issues in her back and spine. She then made her return in the 2022 Royal Rumble but ultimately was eliminated by her sister, Brie Bella. They also got inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021 for their contributions to the Women’s Revolution.

Since you and I have been lifting so much, we always say, we start to get that wrestling mindset. When I saw Mercedes debut and cut her promo and that line stuck with me, ‘Here we can make our evolution worldwide. I had a good week of like this is it, I’m going to call Tony Khan, I’m your girl, I can commit, and then I was like I can’t do that to my son right now, like, he needs me.

In the end, Nikki Bella chose to be with her young son instead of wrestling. She said that she might decide to start wrestling again once her husband’s dancing career is over. It will be interesting to see whether she ever steps foot in the squared circle again or not.

Nikki Bella was very excited when Mercedes Mone made her debut at AEW. Certainly, she was impressed by her promo, which almost swayed her into joining the company. The 40-year-old sent a congratulatory message on social media.

She took to X and appreciated her efforts in making the women’s revolution as global as possible. Nikki further said that she loved everything The Boss represented. Mercedes joined the Jacksonville-based company at AEW: Big Business after months of hiatus due to an injury.

After going away from wrestling and WWE, the Bella Twins detached themselves from their ring name and decided to use their real last name. It doesn’t look like Nikki would be ready for a return, but the wrestling business is unpredictable. Needless to say, it won’t be a surprise if and when Nikki Bella returns to wrestling again.
