Team Serbia’s star man, Nikola Jokic, is probably one of the most admired players in the sport right now. Jokic has stolen the headlines recently due to his kind nature after receiving Bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. As per Blic, Jokic bought Rolex watches as gifts for the Serbian national team, with the NBA community praising the Denver Nuggets star for his kind gesture.
In addition, Jokic chose Rolex models for his teammates that cost $32,500 each, totaling $375,500 for eleven watches. Notably, Jokic will enter the second year of a $276 million, five-year contract with the Nuggets. While some of Jokic’s Olympic teammates play basketball professionally in the NBA, the vast majority do not.
Team Serbia earned the bronze medal in this year’s Olympics. They defeated reigning world champion Germany 93-83 in the third-place game of the basketball competition. The Serbians fell 91-95 to Team USA in the semifinals. Although they had the lead, the Gold medal winners produced one of the best comebacks in Olympic history.
Also, Jokic averaged 18.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists. He became the first player in tournament history to lead in points, rebounds, and assists combined for the team. However, Jokic’s focus will now shift to the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season with the Nuggets. It will be interesting to watch how Jokic and the Nuggets side perform this upcoming NBA season.
Team Serbia head coach Svetislav Pesic made a bold declaration regarding Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic has been making the headlines in and around the sport of basketball for the past few years. Recently, the Serbian star received immense praise from his nation’s head coach, Svetislav Pesic. Notably, Pesic claimed that Jokic’s characteristics as a person outweigh those as a player, with no disrespect to his game.
From both the aspect of his individual quality and from the aspect of personality that Jokic is. Because when I say that Jokic is a better guy than he is a player, they all faint. Like, ‘you’re courting Jokic.’ Of course I’m courting him, because I want to point that out.Svetislav Pesic via Potlike Podcast
His contributions to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA remain a legacy-defining aspect. He led the team to their first championship in 2023. The three-time MVP was not overjoyed that his team won the NBA championship. Instead, he wanted to leave for Serbia as soon as possible and didn’t want to participate in the parade. However, Jokic did admit that he loved the parade.
The calm demeanor and his attitude towards basketball remain the main highlights of Nikola Jokic. The Serbian coach described Jokic as a selfless man, willing to help anyone and conduct himself in the best possible manner. The unserious attitude is likely a deception; deep down, the Nuggets center always aims to bring the best version of himself on the court and win games.
