“This fool hates the NBA” – Nikola Jokic surprises fans with self alley oop dunk at exhibition game
Nikola Jokic competes in Goran Dragic's farewell game, showcasing his skills and even pulling off a surprising self-lob dunk.
Nikola Jokic caused a frenzy on social media with a not-so customary dunk
Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokic has had a packed NBA offseason, where he led his country Serbia to a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and was also seen enjoying his favorite hobby, horse racing, back home. He’s now in Slovenia for Goran Dragic’s farewell game, competing alongside current and former NBA stars.
Nikola Jokic isn’t known for exhibition-style contests, which is why he doesn’t typically shine in All-Star Games, despite being a three-time NBA MVP. However, he surprised fans with a self-lob dunk in Saturday’s game, throwing the ball off the glass and finishing with one hand.
What was witnessed was very uncharacteristic of Jokic, who is known for his skill and court vision rather than his dunking ability. The crowd as well as fans were likely thrilled to see him showcase a new aspect of his game.
Jokic was joined by Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic in the Dragic’s farewell game and were seen enjoying each other’s company. They’d be back to join their respective teams and it’d be a hot contest in the West and the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks are expected to be among the favorites to lead the conference and take their team to upset the defending champions, the Boston Celtics.
Fans react to Nikola Jokic’s unexpected dunk
The NBA’s reigning MVP is not someone you’d see dunking like Anthony Edwards or LeBron James, but he took the basketball community by storm when he made a self-lob dunk earlier today. This led to fans all over social media to talk about the shock.
One user on X wrote: “This fool hates the nba, he showing out!!!” This is about the obvious fact that the one-time NBA champion prefers to keep his game style simple. Here are some of the reactions:
The testimonial game was filled with stars that included Steve Nash, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Robin Lopez, Dirk Nowitzki, Nikola Vucevic as well as guest appearances from Chris Bosh. As part of his retirement honor, the Slovenian team plans to retire his jersey number three as a sign of respect, and maybe that was why The Joker decided to unleash a new skill as a sign of respect to the retiring legend and fans all over the world.
