Even though Noah Lyles was crowned the fastest man in the world, he failed to claim the gold in the 200-meter event at the Paris Olympics. Although he later revealed it was because he contracted COVID-19, it did not stop people from criticizing him. In a most awaited response, he clapped back.
In a recent interview with GQ Sports, Noah Lyles talked about Tyreek Hill, Adidas shoes, Covid-19, and more. He read some tweets from X by the critics and responded to them. The American sprinter explained why his 200m bronze was more challenging and glorious than his 100m gold. One user had written about Lyles’ impressive feat, mentioning the lungs were ‘in hell’ when he must have had COVID-19.
Definitely agree with that. The craz*er thing is that people still think I didn’t have it. That’s wild.Noah Lyles via GQ Sports.
Right after, he was questioned if he was surprised he even medaled, considering his illness. He denied saying he aimed for gold. Lyles already had asthma, which took a turn for the worse with COVID-19. Despite all that, Lyles was continuously questioned about the diagnosis.
The sprinter had collapsed on the ground at the 200-meter race, gasping for air right after finishing with a bronze. After getting checked, the Olympic gold medalist revealed that he had proceeded despite knowing about his sickness. Winning the bronze medal remains an impressive feat that detractors refuse to praise him for.
Josh Hart wanted Noah Lyles to lose at the Olympics
While speaking to his teammate Jalen Brunson, NBA star Josh Hart revealed that he felt patriotic for Team USA at the Paris Olympics for the most part. However, one sole exception was when it involved Noah Lyles. Hart confessed that he wanted to see Lyles lose at the Olympics.
The Knicks star followed his comment by noting that this was the first time all of the NBA community ‘banded together’ and criticized Lyles. By the end of it, he said he couldn’t even hate Lyles anymore, likely because of his exceptional performance.
Josh Hart’s feud with Noah Lyles might have stemmed from a controversial comment the latter made about NBA players last year. Regardless of the sour grapes he receives from the NBA fans, Noah Lyles remains unfazed by the criticism.
