‘NOT OUR HERO’ – Vandals deface street mural dedicated to Khabib Nurmagomedov in the city of Chelyabinsk

Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired and it has almost been a month since that. The “Eagle of Dagestan” dominated Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, winning via. submission in the second round. He then stunned the entire world in his post-fight interview, hanging up his gloves, saying that he won’t be able to fight anymore without his late father in the ringside and also that he had promised his mother that the Justin Gaethje fight would be his last fight. His retirement was met with a truckload of tributes from all around the world.

Even a mural was dedicated to the Dagestani in the city of Chelyabinsk after his recent victory over Gaethje, which showed the fighter wearing his trademark papakha hat, with an eagle flying nearby. More recently, vandals have spoiled the mural spraying black paint all over the fighter’s face with the message ‘NOT OUR HERO’.

The vandalism comes in the wake of Khabib’s comments against French President Emmanuel Macron

This mediocre act from the vandals, comes in the wake of Khabib recently criticizing French President Emmanuel Macron over the latter’s remarks against Islam. Khabib then took to social media posting an image with a boot-print over Macron’s face saying, “May the Almighty disfigure the face of this creature and all its followers, who, under the slogan of freedom of speech, offend the feelings of more than one and a half billion Muslim believers.”

It is to be noted that Khabib was also honored with a street art mural in Dagestan, based on the splendid artwork from popular creator Boss Logic.
