The win marked Sinner’s third straight victory over Djokovic, and two consecutive ones this season. Sinner has now leveled their head-to-head record to 4-4. His other titles apart from the Shanghai Masters, include two Grand Slams, two ATP Masters 1000, and two ATP 500 trophies. Sinner is now the second man after Andy Murray in 2016 to win more than six titles in a calendar year.
Djokovic, on the other hand, has now lost the two finals he played on the ATP Tour this season, after Wimbledon where he lost to Alcaraz. The only title he won was the Paris Olympic gold medal by beating the Spaniard.
