Novak Djokovic Gives Verdict on Carlos Alcaraz’s Ibiza Vacation Right Before Grass Swing
Carlos Alcaraz, after winning the French Open, flew to Ibiza to spend some time away from tennis before the Queen's Club, which Novak Djokovic skipped.

Novak Djokovic practiced for Wimbledon with a player who has defeated him here in the last two seasons’ finals. He was the sparring partner of Carlos Alcaraz, who is bidding to win his third consecutive Wimbledon title.
Djokovic arrived in London without participating in any warm-up tournament on grass. Alcaraz, after his trip to Ibiza, played the Queen’s Club Championships only to end the tournament as the champion for the second time by beating Jiri Lehecka.
Alcaraz went to Ibiza when he suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the semifinal of the 2023 French Open from the Serb. After partying there for three days (his team was against him going there), Alcaraz returned to tennis at the Queen’s and made it all the way to the final, where he beat Alex de Minaur to lift his first grass-court title.
Is the Ibiza vacation after a grueling clay season the reason behind his incredible run on the grass swing? Alcaraz doesn’t think so, but Djokovic is of a different opinion.
Whatever he is doing in Ibiza, it is working. He always wins before and after Ibiza.

Before his trip to the Mediterranean island, the five-time Grand Slam champion achieved a lot of success on the clay swing as he won three titles: two Masters 1000s in Monte Carlo and Rome, and the French Open title he defended by beating World No.1 Jannik Sinner. Djokovic only lifted one title on clay- the Geneva Open by beating Hubert Hurkacz. It was his first title since his win over Alcaraz in the final of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Novak Djokovic gives his verdict on Carlos Alcaraz’s French Open win over Jannik Sinner
Novak Djokovic‘s campaign at the French Open was ended by Jannik Sinner in the semifinal. Sinner then scheduled a match against Carlos Alcaraz for the first time in a Grand Slam final.

The Italian battled past Alcaraz in the first two sets, but the Spaniard tried forcing a comeback and was successful in doing so. En route to his five-set win in five hours and 29 minutes, the 22-year-old saved three championship points in the fourth set. Nole was reluctant to watch the match at first.
To be honest, I was in my country. My wife wanted to watch the final but I didn’t want to watch it. The first part of the match we went outside for lunch. We came back and I ended up watching it. Incredible, incredible match. Huge credit to both of them. It was one of the most historic matches we have ever seen.

Sinner played his first French Open final; he has now lost five consecutive matches against his arch-rival. He trails 4-8 in the head-to-head record over Alcaraz.
Sinner has now far won just one title this season, the Australian Open, which he defended by beating Alexander Zverev. After staying on the sidelines for three months due to his doping ban, the 23-year-old made his comeback at the Italian Open only to lose the final to Alcaraz.
Alcaraz has reached six finals this season, winning five titles: in Rotterdam, Monte Carlo, Rome, Paris, and London. Djokovic, apart from his Geneva Open win, also made it to the final of the Miami Open but failed to go past Jakub Mensik.
Sinner, the semifinalist at Wimbledon 2023 (lost to Djokovic) and the quarterfinalist last year (lost to Daniil Medvedev) could meet Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final as well, given that they will be the first and second seeds, respectively. The 24-time Grand Slam champion, the sixth seed, will be aiming to win his eighth Wimbledon title to tie the tally with Roger Federer.
