Novak Djokovic is set to compete at the Qatar Open later this month. He has recovered faster than expected from a hamstring injury. The tournament begins on February 17th, and Djokovic plans to arrive early to prepare.
The Serbian star was injured during his Australian Open semi-final against Alexander Zverev. He lost the first set 7-6(5) before retiring from the match. A scan later confirmed a hamstring tear, which first troubled him in the quarter-finals. Doctors initially thought he could be out for two months.
After receiving treatment in Belgrade, Djokovic feels ready to return. According to the reports from Sportal, he has not practiced since his Australian Open exit. He will use his early arrival in Doha to train before the tournament begins.
Djokovic’s physiotherapy team is also changing. Claudio Cimalja will now travel with him for most of the season. Miljan Amanovic will focus on Grand Slams and key Masters 1000 events.
Andy Murray’s future uncertain as Novak Djokovic’s coach
Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has not yet decided if he will continue working with Andy Murray as his coach. The Serbian brought in his former rival to help him during the Australian Open. Although Djokovic did not win the title, both were happy with the partnership.

It is still unclear if Murray will join Djokovic in Doha. If he does not, Djokovic will need to find someone else to support him. The Serbian is aiming for his 100th career title at the Qatar Open.
Djokovic has won the Doha title twice before. He defeated Rafael Nadal in the 2016 final. In 2017, he beat Murray to claim the trophy.
For this year’s tournament, Djokovic is expected to be the third seed. Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1, and Carlos Alcaraz, ranked No. 3, will be ahead of him.
