Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic had to pull out from the 2024 Roland Garros as the 37-year-old sustained a meniscus tear on his right knee during his fourth-round match against Francisco Cerundolo. With this, his aim to defend his crown in Paris was defeated. Now, the Serbian has shared an update on how he is feeling after undergoing surgery.
Djokovic said that he is still processing what all happened to him in the past few days. He talked about his decision to pull out from the Grand Slam tournament and called it a tough one for him. Djokovic then expressed delight at his surgery going well.
The Serbian thanked the team of doctors who helped him with his surgery and expressed gratitude to his fans for their continued love and support. Djokovic also shared a picture of him with his team and wife Jelena Djokovic.
In the past day, I had to make some tough decisions after sustaining a meniscus tear during my last match. I’m still processing it all but I am happy to update you that the surgery went well. I am so appreciative of the team of doctors who have been by my side, as well as the overwhelming support I have received from my fans.Novak Djokovic wrote on Instagram.
Novak Djokovic reveals when will he return to action
Novak Djokovic has had an un-Djokovic-like season so far in 2024. He has not won a title yet and when the Serbian was looking good to pull off something special, he injured himself. But rather than his missing the Roland Garros, the main concern was if he would be able to make a comeback before the Paris Olympics.
The Serbian has shared an update in this regard as Djokovic revealed when he will be returning to action. The 37-year-old said that he would do his best to return to the tennis court as soon as possible and also talked about his hunger to compete and win.
I’m going to do my best to be healthy and fit to return to the court as soon as possible. My love for this sport is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level is what keeps me going. IdemooNovak Djokovic said of his comeback.
Notably, a few experts have claimed that Djokovic would not need a lot of time to recover and should be fine before the Olympics. Jo-Wilfred Tsonga had claimed a few days ago that the Serbian might need around six weeks to recover completely if he undergoes surgery, which Djokovic has done.
