Recently, tennis fans have been enjoying short videos featuring ATP stars reacting to unbelievable shots played at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters. This time, they react individually to jaw-dropping moments from the tournament.
Stars like Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and others reacting to spectacular shots on the tour. Among the shots shown to them, the final one featured Rafael Nadal, known as the ‘King of Clay,’ showcasing his signature clay court skills.
In the 2009 Monte Carlo finals between Djokovic and Nadal, the two engaged in an incredibly long rally at the start of the third set. Djokovic dropped the ball very close to the net, and Nadal surprised everyone by hitting it back effectively. The video left all the featured stars speechless.
To hit that shot is sick.said Holger Rune, who was shocked at the long rally.
Djokovic, reflecting on that rally, was once again surprised by what happened next. Nadal ultimately emerged victorious in the Finals after an intense battle.
Monte Carlo misses Rafael Nadal’s presence
Rafael Nadal has an unmatchable record on the clay courts. With multiple Grand Slam titles and tournament wins, he has been very successful on this surface. Coming to Monte Carlo, here are some of Nadal’s achievements in the tournament.
Few players have achieved the level of success that Nadal has at the Monte Carlo Masters. He has won the third-most titles in Monaco (11 titles), behind his 14 French Open titles and 12 Barcelona titles. In addition to his titles, Nadal has reached the most finals in this tournament (12 finals).
There is also one record, which has not been matched yet. Like Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has won consecutive titles in 2021 and 2022, Nadal has done the same for eight straight years. From 2005 to 2012, the Spaniard has won consecutive titles. No wonder, it was very tough for the Monaco crowd to not see their best player play this year.
