The World No.56, Yoshihito Nishioka is one of the few Asian players who have broken through the Top-50 rankings in the singles category on the ATP Tour. Nishioka has reminisced about colliding against the two of tennis history’s best, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer

The Japanese has commended the World No.1 Djokovic, for having the most destructive strokes in his arsenal. The 25-year-old lost against the 17-time Grand Slam champion at the 2020 Australian Open (3-6, 2-6, 2-6). Quite taken aback by the power he clashed against in this bout, Yoshi has labelled Nole ‘the best of the moment’.

In an interview for The Digest Web, the youngster said, “(Novak Djokovic is) the strongest player at the moment. His ball control is accurate… I can’t attack because the quality of each ball is so high. The basic quality of his shots is very high, way higher than mine. I really felt the difference between them.”

Further, Nishioka spoke about not being able to compete in his element due to Federer’s utter mastery. The duo battled at the U.S Open in 2018, when the Swiss Maestro emerged victorious 6-2, 6-2, 6-4.

Citing the incident which left him transfixed, Yoshi added, “I was honestly happy. First of all, I was impressed that I could play against Federer.” 

“Many people have had the impression that he was a perfect person. And when I entered the court, I was so nervous. That I didn’t know how to play for a long time,” he concluded.
