Novak Djokovic made a hilarious comment about Andy Murray’s recent thank-you post. The Serbian and the Brits go way back to when they were rookie on the tour and moved on to become friends, rivals, and even double partners. With the Brit playing the last tournament of his career, he is seen expressing multiple gratitude posts for the event and individuals associated with him during his illustrious career.
Murray first shared an emotional post featuring various Olympic photos from different editions, announcing that this would be the last tournament of his career. He also met with several tennis players but felt compelled to make a special post about a very close player.
Before becoming rivals on the major draw, the two had known each other in juniors as well. Eventually, they build up to become formidable individual players. Although it was Djokovic who had a breakthrough first, Murray soon joined him at the top.
They were also doubles partners for a brief period. Thanking Djokovic for these moments, Murray also teased his rival and friend for being more than just that and perhaps ‘lovers’. He shared a post featuring a collection of pictures, including a humorous one where Djokovic and Murray stood close, looking at each other with what some might call a “lover’s gaze.”
In an emotional post for his good friend on tour, even Djokovic couldn’t resist commenting. He shared an Instagram story acknowledging the post and humorously added that he would pass on being lovers.
Andy I loved competing against you, playing doubles together, sharing some great memories as friends. I will “pass” on being lovers. Hope you understand. What an amazing career. Legendary. Thank you for inspiring all of us players and many people all over the world.Novak Djokovic posted on his Instagram story.

Novak Djokovic’s epic rivalry with Andy Murray over the years
Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray were rivals from the very start, with Murray being born a week earlier. Even though it was Djokovic who emerged into the main tour first, Murray soon followed. Both of them had different years of dominance.
In 2010, both showed the world that they were very much capable of taking the fight to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Soon after, followed Djokovic’s year of dominance which was in 2011 and 2015. However, Murray’s best came in the time in like 2012, 2013, and 2016. They have played numerous matches together (played 36, of which Murray won 11) with their last one in 2022, where Djokovic got a walkthrough.
Currently, both veterans are possibly playing in their last Summer Games. While Djokovic has prioritized singles category in his pursuit of that missing gold in his trophy cabinet, Murray will play doubles in Paris.
