Novak Djokovic eyeing his seventh title in Rome
After a mediocre start to the 2024 season as per his standards, Novak Djokovic would be hoping to pick some pace ahead of important events. With the 2024 French Open scheduled to take place in a few weeks, the Serbian ace is eyeing a title in Rome and then entering the mega event with some momentum by his side.
Djokovic has already won six titles at the ATP 1000 event in Rome and would be hoping to add a seventh. He has started the campaign with a dominant win as the 36-year-old beat Corentin Moutet in straight sets. Djokovic claimed the first set 6-3 and upped his game in the second set to win 6-1.
He will next face Alejandro Tabilo in the third round and will be hoping to cruise through. Djokovic is expected to go the distance at this tournament considering his top two rivals currently- Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are not playing in Rome. Both are down and out with injuries while Djokovic has kept himself fresh.
