Novak Djokovic is set to play at an ATP 250 tournament in Geneva next week. After a disappointing exit in the Italian Open, it seems like the Serbian is desperate for some wins, and will play in the 250 tournament to try to get his first title of the season.
The World No.1 is used to winning at the start of the year and carrying that form for the rest of the year. However, this time, he was outplayed by Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open, and since then has been on a losing streak. After that, he lost to Luca Nardi at the Indian Wells Masters and made it to the semi-finals at Monte Carlo.
Trying to come back, Djokovic took some time off to prepare for the Italian Open but lost to Alejandro Tabilo in straights. It was an embarrassing loss for the world No.1, who has now got the wildcard entry in the Geneva Open.
This is the first time in his career that the Serbian will enter Geneva as a top seed. He will join the likes of Andy Murray and Denis Shapovalov to play in the tournament just before the French Open. It is very unusual for Djokovic to play in a tournament right before a major event, but understandable, given his recent form.
Andy Roddick concerned about Novak Djokovic’s form than he has been in the last 15 years
American legend Andy Roddick took to his podcast to express his recent thoughts about Novak Djokovic heading into the French Open. The Serbian has not been in the best of forms raising many questions about his French Open preparations.
In the recent podcast episode of “Served with Andy Roddick”, the host had to speak about the defending champion’s form ahead of Roland Garros. Roddick addressed his concerns about Djokovic while stating that his recent form has been weird.
I'm more concerned about his tennis game than I have been in probably like 15 years.said Andy Roddick on his podcast.
Now, Djokovic changed things up and will prepare rather differently for the French Open. He looks to play in an ATP 250 tournament before the Grand Slam, to get some momentum and wins behind him. Fans also look forward to watching the Serbian play, even at the ATP level.
