The noise and rumors surrounding LeBron James‘ future are growing with every passing day. He has been linked to a number of clubs, and the latest one is the Denver Nuggets. A move to the Nuggets would see him join forces with Nikola Jokic.
Jokic and James together would definitely move the needle in a stacked Western Conference. It has been reported that the Nuggets have contacted James in free agency and could be a sleeper option if James is willing to take a smaller deal.
Senior NBA reporter Jake Fischer revealed that Denver is a suitable destination for James.
As one of the “realistic” suitors for LeBron James, the Denver Nuggets, begin their negotiations with restricted free agent Peyton Watson in earnest, sources say Denver is not working under the cap crunch many rival teams once projected.

It is remarkable that LeBron James can still attract so many suitors at his current age. Multiple teams looking to contend for a championship have reached out to James after becoming an unrestricted free agent. The four-time champion decided to leave the Los Angeles Lakers after spending eight years in LA.
Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic is coming off a disappointing end to his 2025-26 campaign. After being seen as contenders in the West, Jokic and the Nuggets were eliminated in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The first-round exit saw Jokic come under a lot of criticism. Hence, a move for James would provide Jokic the help he needs as the Nuggets look to make a deep playoff run next year.
LeBron James and Nikola Jokic would turn the Nuggets into contenders
It has been confirmed that the Nuggets are interested in acquiring James and have reached out to his camp. This is not the first time they have tried to recruit the four-time champion. Back in 2018, they reached out to James when he was a free agent, but he eventually chose to join the Lakers.
Both James and Jokic are high-IQ players and can play side by side. However, Jokic is the face of the franchise; hence, James will need to adapt his game around the big Serb. But he will bring in some much-needed playoff experience, passing, and size to the team.
Jokic and the Nuggets have underperformed in the postseason since winning the championship in 2023. While Jokic has performed at a high level, he looked far below his best in the playoffs this year.
The two have immense respect for each other. It remains to be seen whether James will join forces with Jokic for next season, but if he does, they will be instant contenders to come out of the West next year.
Warriors are no longer viewed as a top suitor for LeBron James
When it was announced that James would be a free agent, the one club who was immediately linked to him that surprised many was the Golden State Warriors. It was reported that the Warriors planned to bring in James and his former Lakers teammate Anthony Davis together in the offseason.

NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the Warriors will not be able to sign the 41-year-old unless they trade for Davis.
The big domino with them is trying to get a player like an Anthony Davis, you can bring in James and Anthony Davis as a package deal. Short of that, they’re not really looked at right now at the top of this list.

There was a lot of hype when reports surfaced that the Warriors were moving for James. Stephen A. Smith even went on to say that they would be title contenders if James joined forces with Stephen Curry.
