This past Tuesday on New Year’s Evil, The Rock made his first-ever appearance on NXT. He closed out the show with a profanity-laden promo where he applauded the passionate fanbase of NXT. It propelled the developmental brand to an average of 957k viewers, which were the highest since September 2019. The last quarter featuring the Black Adam star topped at 988k people tuning in.

Just before that segment, the fans witnessed Oba Femi get crowned as the brand-new NXT Champion. He rallied past Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe to become the only NIL graduate till now to hold a major title in the company. But he has taken offense to The Rock hogging the limelight. Femi was a guest on Busted Open Radio, where he expressed his resentment.

The 26-year-old admitted he was so occupied in the moment that he didn’t even realize that any time was being stolen from him. Had he known, Oba would’ve confronted the real-life Dwayne Johnson about it. The Nigerian grappler said he’ll let it slide for now, but there will be problems if the 52-year-old mogul comes back to repeat the same thing again.

Maybe if I knew, I would have gone up to him and been like, ‘Hey, Uncle Dwayne, what are you doing?’ I’ll let it slide this time, but next time Uncle Dwayne comes in and steals time from me, there are going to be problems.

In the promo that Rock cut, he cursed a lot. Addressing his soft treatment of Cody Rhodes from the Netflix premiere of Raw, Johnson affirmed that he’s always 20 steps ahead of everyone. For those wondering, Rock vs. Rhodes, which was the plan for WrestleMania 41, now stands canceled.

People within WWE still expect Dwayne to be at Mania. However, he’s unlikely to wrestle. As a result, The Great One’s earmarked spot is now being superseded by John Cena. Per Fightful, the Peacemaker star taking on Cody for the Undisputed WWE title at WrestleMania is the working plan.

The Rock had a backstage confrontation with Ethan Page on NXT

Apart from taking center stage during the dying minutes of NXT: New Year’s Evil, The Rock was involved in a backstage segment. He got to share the screen with his daughter, Ava Raine, who also happens to be the general manager of NXT. As Ethan Page was arguing with Ava, Rock chimed in.

The People’s Champ tried to make peace between Page and Raine, who haven’t gotten along well lately. Rock told the former AEW star to contact him if he needs anything. The Jumanji actor clarified that he’s indeed the Final Boss of WWE.

But on NXT, Ava holds that distinction. Before Ethan could leave, Rock manifested that they’d probably meet on the main roster one day. Page got hilariously spanked by The Brahma Bull as he was exiting. Fans really liked that interaction.
