Whenever Odell Beckham Jr. shows up for Formula 1 racing, one can bet it was to root for Lewis Hamilton. The two have been buddies for a while, and whenever they get some free time, they never forget to catch up with each other.
The new Miami Dolphins wide receiver dropped by wearing a Kobe Bryant-inspired t-shirt at the Miami Autodrome on Sunday. He was roaming around until one of the reporters saw him and asked who he was supporting to win.
His answer was simple. Although he was not a fan of the Mercedes Racing corp, the Super Bowl winner was ready to shout for his pal, Lewis Hamilton.
I'm here with Visa and CashApp. But, at the end of the day, my brother, Lewis Hamilton—if he’s in the race, I’ll always take it out for him.Odell Beckham Jr. said
Well, fortunately for OBJ, Hamilton will no longer be part of the Mercedes after the current season wraps up. The 39-year-old has agreed to join Ferrari.
Before Hamilton lined up at the 8th spot for the race, Beckham located him near the tarmac. The two old friends hugged each other and exchanged a few words.
OBJ then rejoined his group of Dolphins teammates, which included Bradley Chubb, Jevon Holland, and Jalen Ramsey, who accompanied him to the race.
There were several other famous faces present at the event. From Tom Brady to soccer stars Sergio Busquets and Zinedine Zidane, along with the Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler, attended.
The long-standing friendship of Odell Beckham Jr. and Lewis Hamilton
Even though they are stars in different sports, both OBJ and Lewis Hamilton managed to strike a chord between themselves at the 2019 Miami GP. During the visit, the former Cleveland Browns wide receiver asked Hamilton how it felt to drive his Pagani Zonda.
It did not go according to plan. They sat down, and even after several tries, the supercar failed to power up. Perhaps it happened due to a dead battery. Yet it did manage to create a bond between the two athletes.
Since then, they have been seen together at various events. The same year, they caught up in Monaco, where they were driving through the streets of the principality at night.
Back in 2020, the pair attended a Golden State Warriors game along with Brazilian soccer star Neymar Jr.
The BBC reported that they even got inked by the same tattoo artist.
It’s always pleasing to witness individuals bond over common interests. When Hamilton finally wears the iconic red Ferrari suit, OBJ will surely be there to cheer him on.
