Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier had an intense rivalry. While it has been years since both went their separate ways, the coldness still might linger. This was seen in the latest clip released from a UFC documentary which captured the phone conversation between the two UFC legends.

A recent clip of a phone conversation between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones is going viral on the internet. In the conversation, the two MMA icons awkwardly exchange praises. Jon Jones says something along the lines of: 

I just want to say, Daniel, I am super proud of the way things turned out for you man. I think its awesome. Congratulations with everything you got going.

This clip was from an episode of the new ‘Fight Inc: Inside the UFC’ docuseries on Roku. UFC commentator Jon Anik was speaking on the phone with ‘Bones’ when he realized DC was in the room too. This was when he shot up the conversation with the former double champion, and one could tell how uncomfortable DC got returning the praise to Jones. At the end of the call, Cormier flipped off at the camera showing how awkward their little conversation really felt.

But why was it awkward and why is this clip going viral? UFC fans would remember just how bad the rivalry between the two MMA icons had become. Jon Jones had given Daniel Cormier his first taste of defeat in his professional MMA career in 2015 at UFC 182. They clashed again in 2017 but the bout ended in no contest. The entire drama leading up to the fight and beyond made it one of the most iconic rivalries in UFC history.

Daniel Cormier retired from fighting in 2020 and went on to become one of the most popular UFC commentators.
