Armand Duplantis, who holds the record for pole vaulting, had plans to compete against Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce, who has won the World Championship five times in the 100m race. However, Duplantis would rather race against Sha’Carri Richardson, who is the current champion.
The Jamaican athlete, Fraser-Pryce, was supposed to compete with the young person in a race before the season concluded, but her involvement has been limited throughout most of the season due to an injury. Duplantis expressed no animosity towards Richardson and mentioned that they do not have any issues, but competing against her would be quite enjoyable.
Duplantis stated, “That’s a good joke, but we aren’t really angry at each other. We are actually very good friends. However, that could actually be very interesting. I never considered that, but it actually is a much better idea to compete against Sha’Carri. However, we will have to wait and see how it goes.”
Ever since they both began their studies at LSU, the twain forged a deep friendship, showcasing a unique connection. Both of them had a fantastic season, with Duplantis standing out in particular. Throughout his journey, he has triumphed in every contest and recently shattered a fresh world record during the Prefontaine Classic held on Sunday night.
The American has had an outstanding season, with a mere two race defeats, and she concluded her year on a high note. It is evident who will emerge victorious when the two compete, yet the spectacle promises immense excitement.
