Fraser-Pryce is one of the most highly talented track runners of this generation. The Jamaican was hoping for a sixth women’s world title when she took part in the tournament. She was called the favorite to win here as well and continue her dominance on the track field. Richardson though, had other ideas and went on to destroy the dream of her rival in the process.

As the race kicked all eyes were on Fraser-Pryce and fellow Jamaican international Sherika Jackson. As the duo raced ahead, Richardson came out of nowhere from the last track and surprised everyone by winning the race in 10.65 seconds. For Fraser-Pryce, it was an unfortunate moment to miss out on the gold but she did manage to snatch the bronze medal.

This took her medal tally ahead of the great Usain Bolt. She is now the most successful athlete in Jamaican history at the World Athletics Championship. As for Richardson, it was a great bounce back as she was banned by the governing body for the usage of marijuana two years back. She was also disqualified from the Olympics for this.

This was the former NCAA athletes’ second-ever gold medal. It was also her first individual medal. This victory of hers is sure to pave the way for more future triumphs for her as she continues to climb the ladder of success in her young career.
