Wall Street Journal incurred Simone Biles‘ displeasure by mistakenly featuring a picture of her teammate instead of her in an article about her. Following a two-year break, Biles resumed her participation in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp. Throughout this period, she dedicated her attention to looking after her emotional well-being.
Four gold medals and one silver medal were awarded to the American gymnast as a testament to her exceptional performance. Surpassing the previous record of Vitaly Scherbothe from Belarus, she now boasts an astonishing tally of 37 medals in World Championships and Olympic Games. In present times, the Olympian holds the distinction of being recognized as the most accomplished gymnast in history.
In spite of her commendable performance, the 26-year-old felt disillusioned when the Wall Street Journal inadvertently shared a picture of her American teammate, Shilese Jones, on social media, rather than focusing on her. Biles penned a post on X/Twitter: “This picture isn’t even me…….. try again.”
The impressive victory of the US women’s team can largely be attributed to Jones’s significant role. Achieving a new record, they triumphed for the seventh consecutive time. Moreover, the 21-year-old showcased her talent by earning two bronze medals in the uneven bars and individual all-around events. Biles had a thriving experience in Belgium, reigniting optimism for her performance in the forthcoming Paris Olympics.
The American took time off and then took part in the US Classic hosted in Chicago. She demonstrated her true potential and delivered an exceptional performance at the World Championships. Besides her team’s gold medal win, Biles achieved first-place rankings in the individual all-around, balance beam, and floor events. In the vault event, she finished second, while in the uneven bars, she came in fifth.

Surpassing Scherbo’s previous record by four, she now holds a total of 37 medals in the World Championship and Olympics. In the city where she secured her initial gold medal in the World Championship a decade ago, the American pulled off this achievement. In a separate segment of the tournament, Jake Jarman achieved first place for Britain in the men’s vault event, earning a gold medal.

During the World Championships, the 26-year-old gymnastics prodigy secured her 27th medal last Friday. In Antwerp, Belgium, she achieved a score of 58.399 and was awarded the gold medal in the women’s all-around competition.
