Tokyo Olympics: Zhan Beleniuk first black member of the Ukrainian Parliament, clinches Gold Medal in the 87 Kg Greco Roman Wrestling

The day 12th of the Tokyo Olympic Games marked the matches of the 87 Kg Men’s Greco Roman Wrestling and Ukrainian wrestler and politician, Zhan Beleniuk became Olympic Champion in this weight category, that too by winning the first Gold Medal for Ukraine at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Beleniuk is the two times World Champion and the first black member of the Ukrainian Parliament. He started his medal run by defeating Zurabi Datunashvili from Serbia in the 1/8 finals by 3-1.
Then he moved to the ¼ finals to face the Algerian wrestler, Bachir Sid Azara. Azara gave him a really tough fight and in the end, Zhan Beleniuk won the fight after the score being tied on 1-1. Beleniuk faced the wrestler from Croatia, Ivan Huklek in the semi-finals and defeated him with a dominating scorecard of 7-1.
In the finals he faced Viktor Lorincz from Hungary, Lorincz was the Silver Medalist of the 2019 World Championship and he was a really tough challenge for Zhan Beleniuk in the finals. But the Ukrainian wrestler rose to the occasion and defeated him by 5-1 to take the 87 Kg Greco Roman Wrestling Gold Medal home.
Viktor Lorincz from Hungary fell short in front of Zhan Beleniuk and secured Silver Medal
The Hungarian wrestler, Viktor Lorincz also displayed a dominating performance at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020. He defeated Atabek Azisbekov from Kyrgyzstan in the 1/8 finals and Denis Kudla from Germany in the ¼ finals.
Lorincz defeated Mohamed Metwally from Egypt in the semi-finals by a dominating score of 9-2 and moved to the finals. Although he fell short in front of Beleniuk, he secured a Silver Medal for Hungary at the Tokyo Olympics.
Zurabi Datunashvili and Denis Kudla won Bronze Medals at the 87 Kg Greco Roman Wrestling
The Serbian wrestler, Zurabi Datunashvili won Bronze Medal in the 87 Kg Greco Roman Wrestling. He faced a defeat by Zhan Beleniuk in the very first fight but he defeated all his opponents in the repechage and the Croatian opponent, Ivan Huklek in the fight for Bronze Medal by 6-1 and get his name written in the books of history.
Denis Kudla from Germany clinched the second Bronze Medal in the 87 Kg Greco Roman category, he defeated Atabek Azisbekov from Kyrgyzstan by 10-2 in the repechage 2 and faced Mohamed Metwally in the Bronze Medal fight. Kudla defeated Metwally by 8-1 and secures one more Bronze Medal for Germany.
