Nothing is greater than family. Well — maybe an unhinged Darren Till and his kicks are. Tommy Fury and Co. seemingly took those kick threats to heart with Papa John present the last time they met. It appears Tommy has pulled out of his Misfits & DAZN: X Series 20 boxing return match.

Fury (10-0) was to take on Darren Till (1-0, 1 KO) at a Misfits Boxing event on January 18 at the Co-op Live in Manchester, UK. Till threatened to kick Fury in the head if he was beaten on the scorecards during their heated press conference. Till’s insistence that he’d head kick the ‘Love Island’ contestant hit a bit too close to home for the Fury “Fighting Family”. Tommy Fury took to socials to talk about it:

I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18th 2025. For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is loosing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics. I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp.

This is all saddeningly hilarious because Till has been on the sidelines for a long time now in a bid to have a big fight. He finally gets it and it falls apart because he promoted it all too well. A clear lose-lose for “Gorilla”. Projectile targeting and threats to Kung-Fu KO were part of the DAZN: X Series 10 grudge headliner as well. But Till just did it too well for his Misfits & DAZN: X Series 20 sophomore bout.

For now, the ex-UFC man remains anything but a big routine after his boxing debut. His recent Round 2 TKO domination over Mohammad Mutie at the Social Knockout 3 also ended in a weird skirmish. As for Tommy Fury, he has back-to-back decisions to boast over social media pugilists Jake Paul and KSI. He did indicate a switch in opponent and date, but Till had stuff to air.

Darren Till goes on unforgiving rant on Fury ‘Fighting Family’

Hell Hath no ‘Fury’ because berserk Darren Till wanted to knock some heads clean off and sold the narrative all too well. Arguably, it stands testament to the mic skills of even ex-UFC flames (Promotional CEO Dana White would be wiping tears). Big oof though — Till always wants to knock some heads off. The newbie pro boxer and former UFC title challenger calls out the hypocrisy in it when someone is trotting the lane like John Fury.

Fury Senior was indeed a big part of the chaos at the Misfits & DAZN: X Series 20 presser. He has always had that penchant for going the distance and taking it out of the judges’ hands (preemptive). Fury headbutted on Oleksandr Usyk’s entourage – Stanislav Stepchuk. Fury has also daringly challenged former world champion Carl Froch for free commentary on his sons. Now, Darren Till trashed Team Fury for it.

For years the Furys have bullied people at press conferences, …Fury headbutted people from Usyk’s team, he punched glass when he was fighting KSI and tried to intimidate everyone… But as I said, it was never going to work with me and I bulled them at the press conference…It’s all mental warfare, I don’t need to kick Tommy Fury in the head to beat him. I would absolutely box his head off and knock him flat out. He has showed you his true colors. Fighting family, my a*se.

Tommy might be the ‘TNT’ Fury in the hierarchy but Till goes bombastic calling on their collective hypocrisy. “Just to be clear, Darren was asked to sell the fight and he did,” Till’s manager Lee Eaton stated in a tweet. He also mentioned that Till signed on to forfeit his sophomore pro sanction if he veered away from the rules.

Unless Till goes buddy-buddy with another rival, this has turned sour for now. Misfits Boxing — the promoters of this fight – appear to be keeping Till on the January DAZN pay-per-view (PPV) card. Perhaps for someone who actually wants to fight the plump ‘Gorilla’. For now, there’s no new opponent.
